Porcelain Tiles Mottled Glazes 1-Inch 30 Pieces

Porcelain Tiles Mottled Glazes 1-Inch 30 Pieces

Porcelain Tiles Mottled Glazes 1-Inch 30 Pieces are sold on sheets of fiberglass mesh, which can be pulled off or cut apart with scissors. The faces are not flat but are pillowed out in a rounded bulge that makes the center higher than the edges. The backs of the tiles are unglazed and have grooves to help adhesives and mortars bond more securely.

Porcelain Tiles Mottled Glazes 1-Inch 30 Pieces

  • tile size: 1 inch (25mm)
  • sheet size: 6.375 inch x 5.375 inch
  • thickness: roughly 1/8 inch at the center
  • sales unit: one mesh sheet of 30 tiles
  • material: porcelain
  • variety: glazed
  • pigments: colorfast, UV resistant
  • durability: frost-proof, impervious to liquid
  • usage: suitable for indoor and outdoor use

Coverage

One sheet of 30 pieces will cover 0.23 square feet assuming a standard grout gap of approximately 1/8 inch. To cover 1 square foot, you would need 4 sheets plus 1 tile, which would give you 121 tiles arranged 11 pieces x 11 pieces. We sell these for use as accents instead of area coverage.

Compatibility

These are slightly thicker than the glass tile we sell, but that isn’t a problem if you are wanting your mosaic to have texture with tiles and regions that are a little higher than others. (Raised elements might be problematic on a table top or floor, but for other mosaics, texture and dimension are an easy way to add visual interest to your work.)

Cutting Glazed Porcelain Tile

Glazed Porcelain Tile can be cut using the Compound Tile Nipper we sell.

Use in Mosaic Art

These can be used to make borders around mosaic mirrors and mosaic pictures, and they can also be used as accents in mixed-media mosaic artwork made from various types of tile. You can mix glass, porcelain, and stone tiles with souvenirs made of durable materials.

Blue and White Floral China Pebbles Porcelain Tiles

Porcelain Tiles China Pebbles

Blue and White Floral China Pebbles Porcelain Tiles are glazed ovals sold on sheets of fiberglass mesh, which can be pulled off or cut apart with scissors. These are made in a porcelain factory to look like tiles broken from china plates and rounded by tumbling. They have rounded edges and corners, as if they were rounded by tumbling on a beach, although the finish is shiny gloss not tumbled. The backs of the tiles are unglazed and have grooves to help adhesives and mortars bond more securely. There are three sizes of tiles that come mixed randomly in the sheet: 5/8-inch, 1-inch, and 1.5-inch. NOT ALL SHEETS CONTAIN THE 1.5-INCH SIZE. Most ovals are the 5/8 and 1-inch sizes.

Blue and White Floral China Pebbles Porcelain Tiles

  • tile size: 5/8-inch, 1-inch, and 1.5-inch mixed RANDOMLY
  • tile count: varies due to random size distribution
  • sheet size: roughly 1/4 square foot
  • thickness: 3/16 inch nominal
  • sales unit: mesh sheet roughly 1/4 sq ft, not perfectly square due to the shape of the tiles.
  • material: porcelain
  • variety: glazed
  • pigments: colorfast, UV resistant
  • durability: frost-proof, impervious to liquid
  • usage: suitable for indoor and outdoor use

Coverage

Roughly 1/4 square foot.

WARNING

Both His Holiness the Pope and His Holiness the Dalai Lama have issued edicts stating that these sheets are not perfectly square and vary sheet to sheet in shape and in piece count and that people who complain about this because they did not read the product description or look at the bleeding pictures should be ashamed of themselves.

Compatibility

These are slightly thicker than the glass tile we sell, but that isn’t a problem if you are wanting your mosaic to have texture with tiles and regions that are a little higher than others. Free Shipping Mosaic Tile

FREE SHIPPING?

Free shipping does not exist. If a mosaic tile retailer is offering “free shipping,” they have inflated their prices so that you still pay for this phony discount. Instead of “free shipping,” we offer Priority Mail Flat-Rate boxes, the best shipping value on the Internet. These boxes are cheaper and faster than UPS Ground or FedEx Ground.

HONEST PRICING AT MOSAIC ART SUPPLY

We do not offer “free shipping.” No one does, not really. If you doubt this, simply compare the TOTAL cost of your order. Compare the quality of goods. We don’t inflate our prices to offer fake discounts.

THE CHEAPEST SHIPPING AVAILABLE FOR MOSAIC TILE

The cheapest shipping available for heavy products like mosaic tile is Priority Mail Flat-Rate. They are usually faster than UPS or Fedx ground services, especially when shipping to the West Coast, Alaska, or Hawaii.

Our new software automatically calculates the weight and size of your order and determines the cheapest shipping option for you during checkout. It will also offer alternative shipping options such as UPS Next-Day Air that you can select for rush orders. However, the cheapest option will usually be USPS Flat-Rate Priority Mail shipping.

Broken, Reworked and Salvaged Mosaic Assortment – 1 Pound

Broken, Reworked, & Salvaged Mosaic Tile Assortment

Broken, Reworked and Salvaged Mosaic Tile Assortment is a colorful 1-lb assortment of mosaic material. It varies by batch but usually includes marble cubes and pieces, glass tile, porcelain tile, iridescent and metallic tile, translucent glass gems, minis, imitation gold, millefiori, toy marbles, beads, etc. It is a great way to get a sample of different products to see what you enjoy working with.

The Salvage Assortment includes many tiles that are whole and clean. It also includes broken tile, occasional sharp pieces and tiles that still have mesh or adhesive stuck to the back. Please do not order the assortment if that is a problem.

Each 1-pound scoop varies, but should include fragments and pieces of most types of tile we sell, plus odd samples from manufacturers.

Broken, Reworked and Salvaged Mosaic Tile Assortment

  • tile size: various
  • thickness: 1/8″ and thicker
  • sales unit: 1-lb mix
  • material: glass, marble, ceramic, porcelain
  • variety: molded tile, gems, fragments
  • finishes: glossy, grainy, matte, iridescent, metallic, translucent
  • shapes: square, round, triangle, linear, irregular, charms, broken

Compatibility

This mix contains a range of thicknesses, but is easily sorted into two piles: flat tile with a nominal thickness of 1/8″ and thicker chunkier pieces that are more easily pressed into wet concrete than glued to a flat surface. The broken mosaic assortment is great for finding odd accents and special pieces.

Coverage

One pound covers about 2/3 of one square foot, but pieces are of different thicknesses. This assortment should be pressed into wet thinset (or sorted by thickness).

Cutting Salvaged Mosaic Tile

Cut glass, porcelain and ceramic tile using our Wheeled Glass Cutter. For thicker marble pieces and any extremely hard tile, use our Compound Nipper.

Broken, Reworked & Salvaged Tile in Mosaic Art

Artists can combine these colorful and varied tiles in myriad compositions from figurative to abstract. Sort by color to create images or combine freestyle and have fun. Add special accents and unusual details to any mosaic.

NOTE: Limited supply.

WARNING: This assortment was made by tumbling real damaged scrap from the warehouse and studio, and thus it includes some SHARP pieces.

Mosaic Tile Gifts

Most artists prefer to choose their own materials, so buying art supplies as a gift can be problematic. However, we offer several options that minimize the stress of choosing.

Gift Certificates

Mosaic Art Supply sells Gift Certificates in amounts of $30, $50 and $100. The certificates can be mailed to you or directly to the recipient. If this is a last-minute gift, we can even email you an electronic copy of the certificate that you can print out at home.

Mosaic Starter Kits

We also have a Mosaic Starter Kit With Compound Nipper that is the perfect way to equip someone new to mosaic with the essential tools needed to work with glass, porcelain and ceramic. Note that our kit is NOT a children’s project kit with materials for making one particular design. Instead, our kit contains the same tools we use in our studio for executing commissioned artwork and is intended to outfit your artist to pursue their own unique design. The kit contains an 8-ounce bottle of Weldbond adhesive and two pounds of sanded grout plus a small selection of glass mosaic tile, which allows your artist to make a simple trivet or mosaic plaque before planning more ambitious projects.

Hint: An ideal gift would be the Mosaic Starter Kit plus a Gift Certificate.

The kit comes in two versions. The kit with the compound tile nipper should be ordered if you think your artist might want to work with stone or porcelain. We have our more economical Mosaic Starter Kit that has a regular tile nipper for artists who only use these harder materials in limited quantities. Both kits contain a mosaic glass cutter.

Mosaic Art Starter Kit with Compound Nipper
Our Mosaic Art Starter Kit with Compound Nipper is the same as our regular Mosaic Starter Kit, but it includes the Compound Tile Nipper for hard porcelain and stone.
Mosaic Art Starter Kit
Mosaic Art Starter Kit includes professional-grade tools plus grout, glue, 300 glass mosaic tiles, and access to our online mosaic instructions.

Mosaic Tile Assortments

Mosaic Tile Assortments are great for giving your artist a sampling of many of the things we sell.

METALLIC Glass Mosaic Tiles Assortment 3/4-Inch 1 lb

Sold by the pound (approximately 145+ pieces). These tiles are hard and durable enough for outdoor installation, yet they cut easily into halves, quarters, and triangles with little force using a pair of mosaic glass cutters. The grooved side bonds adhesive more securely.

Metallic Glass Mosaic Tiles Assortment 3/4-Inch

  • Sales unit: 1 pound (roughly 145+ tiles).
  • Tile dimensions: 3/4 inch x 3/4 inch (20mm x 20mm).
  • Tile thickness: 4mm (1/8 inch nominal).

  • Coverage: each pound covers 0.69 square feet.
  • Coverage: 218 loose tiles cover 1 sq ft. with grout spacing of 1/16 inch.
  • Frost-proof, impervious to liquid.
  • Suitable for indoor/outdoor use.

Product Coverage

Each pound covers 0.69 square feet, assuming a standard grout spacing of 1/16 inch. Coverage for 1 square foot requires 218 tiles. Note that cutting tiles generates some scrap, so you may want to budget 5% extra.

Compatibility

The 3/4 inch size (20mm) and 1/8 inch nominal thickness (4mm) is industry standard, which means these tiles can mix and match with a wide variety of brands.

Cutting Glass Tile

Though durable enough for outdoor mosaics, this tile cuts easily with minimal force using the mosaic glass cutters. Ordinary tile nippers are not recommended for any type of glass.

Metallic Glass Tile in Mosaic Art

Even as an occasional accent, metallic glass tile will add sparkle, depth and luminosity to any mosaic project. Break up monochromatic color fields with their metallic equivalent, or sprinkle in pieces to add drama to your details.

THICK Glazed Handmade Ceramic Dinnerware Scrap 3-Pound BOX

THICK Glazed Handmade Ceramic Dinnerware Scrap 3-Pound Box is a bag of kiln-fired scrap from dishware made by a local artist. Glazed ceramic like this is not frost-proof, and needs to be used indoors only. The average piece size varies, but one box should cover about 2/3 of a square foot. This is a low-volume limited-offer discount product; when we sell out we are out.

Cheap Mosaic Tile

Mosaic tile and improvised mosaic tile can be obtained cheaply from various sources: returns to building material stores, construction dumpsters and home renovations, old dinnerware from thrift stores and garage sales, lawn and garden stores (for rounded river pebbles and crushed stone), bottles from recycling centers, etc. Rock tumblers are useful for processing some of this material, but some of it can be used as obtained (or with a little cutting). However, vitreous glass and recycled glass tile can actually be more affordable, especially if you consider the time spent reclaiming and preparing material for use in a mosaic.

We are excited to tell you about an affordable new line of 3/4" vitreous glass mosaic tile. With a rainbow of intense colors, these tiles will make a beautiful addition to any mosaic art project!
MorjoTM Vitreous Tile is the most affordable vitreous tile available, and also comes in 3/8″ mini size tiles.

For molded glass mosaic tile, the best value is usually the 3/4″ vitreous glass tile, which is highly recommended for beginners because it is easy to cut and different brands can be used together in the same mosaic. This is a key point because artists often have to source from different brands to get all of the colors they need due to temporary shortages at a particular manufacturer. MorjoTM Vitreous Tile is the most affordable vitreous tile available, and also comes in 3/8″ mini size tiles.

Another important point about vitreous glass tile is that it is NOT limited to beginners or craft projects. Much of the artwork featured on this website was created by professional artists using vitreous, including the naturalistic mosaic portraits done by Harjeet Singh Sandhu.

Lastly, glass mosaic tile is impervious to water, and therefore frost proof and suitable for outdoor use.

You can view many fantastic artworks made with vitreous glass tiles on our Mosaic Artists Gallery.
