Description
M1 Inch Sticks™ by Morjo™ are 1-inch rectangular glass tiles sold loose in bags of 8.8 ounces (approximately 150+ pieces), which covers slightly under 1/4 of a square foot with a standard grout gap of 1/16 inch. Each tile is 25mm x 5mm (1 inch x 0.20 inch), and they are 6mm thick, which is about 50% thicker than most of our glass tile (4mm). They are typically used for borders around mosaics or in mosaics needing raised linear elements or figures. They can also be cut into slices and used for micro mosaic.
These tiles have a glossy finish, and the glass has solid color throughout (and not just on the tops or bottoms.) These tiles are opaque, hard, durable, and UV-resistant. These tiles can be cut cleanly into tiny pieces with minimal waste.
Color Numbers Different
Note the color numbers have different meaning than the same numbers used in other Morjo product lines. These come from a different factory. Colors that are nominally the same in other Morjo product lines won’t match these exactly.

Coverage
Each 8.8 oz bag of about 150+ tiles covers almost 1/4 of a square foot assuming a standard grout gap of 1/16 inch. Use our tile estimator to calculate how much you need for your grouted project.
Grout Gap?
Note that dry indoor mosaics do not have to be grouted (and thus you can simply mount the tiles tightly together), but outdoor and wet mosaics must have grout to prevent water from penetrating behind the tiles. The best way to ensure that the gaps between the tiles is to leave a 1/16-inch gap instead of pressing them tightly together, and this point seems counterintuitive to some people. Consider this: you can never mount them so closely together that water can’t penetrate it, but you can accidentally put them so close that grout doesn’t get adequately pressed into the crack during the grouting process.
Compatibility
These tiles are about 50% thicker than most of the other glass tile we sell, but they can be used with them in the same mosaic unless the surface in question requires a smooth, level surface, such as a table top or counter top. They are typically used for borders around mosaics or in mosaics needing raised linear elements or figures. They can also be cut into slices and used for micro mosaic.
Cutting M1 Inch Sticks™
The Morjo™ brand cuts like butter into tiny pieces using a pair of Mosaic Glass Cutters. You can make tiny cubes without a lot slivers or cutting waste. This makes them ideal for micromosaic or rendering small details in larger work.
