Mottled Glazed Ceramic Tiles Break-Off Sheets are embossed sheets that can be snapped apart into individual tiles using a gloved hand and a ruler on a flat surface. Simply place the ruler under the sheet along the line to be snapped and pressed down on both sides using your gloved hand. Note that the sheets usually snap along the lines as desired, but sometimes they do not. The pattern of the glaze can vary by sheet. Sheets vary slightly in dimension and flatness. Please do not order these if you cannot tolerate some scrap and variance.

- thickness: roughly 3/16 inch

- usage: suitable for indoor use
One sheet will cover approximately 0.23 square feet assuming a standard grout gap of approximately 1/8 inch.
These are slightly thicker than the glass tile we sell, but that isn’t a problem if you are wanting your mosaic to have texture with tiles and regions that are a little higher than others. (Raised elements might be problematic on a table top or floor, but for other mosaics, texture and dimension are an easy way to add visual interest to your work.)
Cutting Glazed Ceramic Tile
Glazed Ceramic Tile are much softer than porcelain and can be cut using the ordinary Tile Nipper we sell.
Use in Mosaic Art
We like to use these as accents in mixed-media mosaic with an ecclectic mix of other durable materials (glass, porcelain, stone, ceramic), but these also look good when used for area coverage and on mirror and picture frames. The mottled glazes make them visually interesting even when used in a group, and you can mix and match different glazes.
